Local Guide – Malta

 Restaurants

The restaurants given here are some of our favourites. They are mid-priced. You will definitely need to book a table if you would like to try them out.

1) Ta’Xbiex Waterpolo Club

This is an absolutely gorgeous setting and the food is delicious. This is 5 minutes by car along the sea front.

You can eat as much as you like here, and the food is very good! Prices at Do Brazil Malta are reasonable, and each table has a two-colour disc with one red side and one green side.

Flip for green when you want to be served more and flip for red when you are full or simple need a break. When you feel hungry again you can just flip back to green side and the staff will come and serve you different kinds of meats and there is a large salad bar to take as much as you like. It has a great atmosphere here.

3) Med Asia

This is a young funky bar / restaurant. It is always busy and serves tasty food. This is a 6 minute walk from here along the promenade.

Where to Swim

1)

If you stand on the balcony and look left, you will see people swimming in the sea there from sometime in May to sometime in September.

2)

Now look out of the window at the back of the apartment and you will see the sea again. Close by there is a park for kiddies and some lidos. This is where you will find the Med Asia Playa
http://medasia.com.mt/medasia-playa/ which is serene, a really beautiful place to relax and eat and swim. Entrance is free to this area as they assume you will eat or drink something there.

3)

Golden Bay is a golden sandy beach in Mellieha.

Special Places

1) Mdina

Mdina is in the centre of the island, you can go on a horse and cart or take a stroll through the narrow, medieval streets of this sleepy, charming place, which has changed little in the last 1,000 years. It is a calming and thought provoking place.

2) The Blue Grotto

Just take a peak at these photos…and you will see why it is worth a visit!

3) The President’s Palace in Attard

I find it curious how many of the websites of amazing places could have much better photos. This is a great example. The San Anton Gardens with the President’s Palace are tranquil and beautiful and simply amazing. They could have included much better photos than you will see here… http://www.mydestination.com/malta/sights/163374/san-anton-gardens

4) Birgu

Birgu has some super yachts and chic restaurants. Here are some photos….

After strolling in this area you could go to the restaurant called Del Borgo, details given above.
